Entertainment Overload

One of the worst things about having a job with a regular schedule and not being in classes is that I've got a lot of free time for things like projects and various modes of conventional entertainment (such as reading fiction, watching TV and movies, and playing video games) which I largely (not completely, but largely) ignored while I was in school.

So now that I'm not in classes, when I get done with work, I have this tendency to go home and not do much of anything at all, because the choices are practically endless. I could watch all of the Pokémon TV series, or I could play one of several Nintendo cartridges, or I could read any of the library of books I've got, between my iPad and my roommates' bookshelves, or I could watch anything on all of Netflix. And that's before I start thinking about the long-term organization and other computerized projects I finally have the time to sit down and start doing.

Some of it is that I have been trying to take more time to work on house cleaning projects in the kitchen and living room, and part of it is that it often takes an hour of my day getting to and from work. That coupled with problems making decisions and working up motivation at the end of the day means I even often spend an hour or more sitting at my desk.

Ultimately that's the problem – I'm so analytical, and at the end of the day I'm so exhausted, that I spend more time thinking about all of the things I could be doing than I spend actually doing things. Even now that I've got this written, I'm likely to spend more time thinking about what I could do next than actually doing anything. Whoops.
