Moved

I recently moved! I have lived in the Crazyhouse for approximately two years, and the time has come for the landlords' other child to go to college. Conveniently, in a town where they own a house. It's my own understanding that they dislike and distrust me anyway, although this information is third- or fourth-hand, and another opportunity had presented itself, so I took my opportunity and moved almost everything in a single go.

Moving itself wasn't that exciting this time. When I first moved into the Crazyhouse, it was exciting because I had a lot of things going on. As I describe in a post written two years ago to the day, I was still in school, I was coming off the tail of "that romance thing" and just months earlier I had bought and then broke my first and (so far) only car. It wasn't quite the myasthenic crisis I had almost a year after that, but it was weird.

This time, I was strong, moved most of my stuff on my own, had help from dad and Brenda as well as my current housemates and was generally having a better time of it all anyway.

The particular opportunity that came up is that Julie mentioned wanting to clean up her house, and I asked if she'd be willing to rent out the guest bedroom in her house again. She tells all sorts of stories about having rented various rooms in the new house to various people along the way, and in all, it sounds like a particularly exciting time. I wasn't sure what she would have said, because she had talked earlier about another acquaintance of hers asking to move in, and how it had been a difficult decision, but she had declined. She revealed after I moved in that she had talked about it with her kids and had had their help in deciding. It's nice to know not only that it's okay with Julie that I live here, but that her kids are okay with the idea.

I am in my third week of residence at the Julie House, and the whole time has been hilarious and awesome. Because I moved so early in the month of June, some of the space that I was going to use hasn't quite become available yet, so I'm still waiting on that to happen (some very valuable closet space is going to be made available bit by bit) and so my room is a cave within a stack of boxes, but it's surprisingly livable for, well, what it is.

The server has also been set up and it's indeed serving you these pages. I need to write a little bit about the process of getting an Internet connection in this neighborhood, but that's an issue for later. The other thing to note is that I haven't been leaving the house as often as I might have when I lived at the Crazyhouse. I don't know if it's purely because I haven't discovered where things are, or if it's related to the fact that everything seems so far away. I suspect that a few adventurous weekends will fix this issue, but it's still a thing to note.

As much as I can, I'll post regular dispatches from Julie's House. She and her two children (11 and 13) are very interesting people and the dynamic of their house is great. It's not particularly productive, mind, but it's great.
